I didn’t publish this post back then ’cause while I was making I thought it’d be a good idea to register a couple for myself first - I did so, I registered two… and ran out of money - one probably will become available next year :) . Anyways, today Russian media was hit by news that olimpic-sochi.ru was sold for 1.8 million dollars, and sochi.pro for $300,000 – both “news”, in my opinion, are total bull… I don’t know how this even makes it to the news sites. imho it’s useless. its short, yes. and it s0chi deffinatelly looks like sochi. but what r u going to do with it? unless one will use it to create really good site, but even in this case any other catchy name will do. and because there is no “sochi” in s0chi.com, search engines will not automatically assume the site is about Sochi, so you’ll have to invest more in getting the site up in SERPs. i do think, that http://www.sochiwhatever.com is better then s0chi.com, even though its longer.

but again, im not an expert, just a guy with some experience :)
